A Letter From tonicSky
I need to be honest with myself.
I've decided I'm not releasing aVoid.
Instead, I'm going back to the project I originally intended to make and releasing the Rap EP
that started this whole chapter: Grief.
And honestly, this decision feels like coming home.
I've spent a lot of time trying different sounds, different directions, and different versions
of what tonicSky could be. I love experimenting. I love creating. But somewhere along the way,
I started moving away from the reason I started making music in the first place.
Pop isn't who I am.
Rap is.
Dark music is.
Honest music is.
Music
that comes from the places inside us that are difficult to talk about is.
I don't make music because I want to fit neatly into a genre. I make music because there are
things inside me that I need to get out.
Grief is about those things.
Loss.
Trauma.
Heartbreak.
Mental illness.
Anger.
Pain.
The things we bury.
The things we pretend don't hurt.
The things we carry around while
telling everyone else that we're fine.
I've always believed that art can do more than entertain people. It can make people feel
something. It can start conversations. It can make someone realize they aren't the only person
struggling.
That matters to me.
If someone hears one of my songs and thinks, "Holy shit. I've felt that too," then the music has
done something bigger than simply being a song.
That is why I'm here.
I want to use music to help break the silence around mental illness. I want to turn pain into
something creative. I want to make art that is uncomfortable when it needs to be, beautiful
when it can be, and honest all the time.
I don't want to chase whatever sound I think I'm supposed to make.
I don't want to make music
just because it might be easier to market.
I want to make music that feels like me.
And Grief does.
So I'm choosing myself as an artist.
I'm choosing the music that actually lives inside
me.
I'm choosing honesty over pretending.
GRIEF

This is tonicSky.
And this is what I'm supposed to be making.
